"Well *that's* a good reason to reschedule!"
- Andreana
You know that saying that you learn as much from your students as they learn from you?
Well the same is true in consultation.
Consultees ask challenging questions, force me to hunt down new answers, think creatively and sort through the expertise they’ve already brought to the room.
Consultees are passionate about good care and big goals. This consistently makes a consultation hour the most energizing part of the day!
So I hate when we have to reschedule for any reason. But one consultee gave me a curveball of a reschedule request:
“I need to take a month off of consultation.”
Not a problem, but I was curious why:
“I’m giving a TED Talk.”
Um of course we can take a month off for your freakin TED Talk!
I had no idea how moving the result would be.
Dr. Laryssa Creswell's talk is personal.
It will help people understand what can be found with intentional change.
And from a clinical perspective, you can see how it informs the her clinical practice.
If you’ve got a client who’s struggling to untangle lessons learned from childhood, this is a great watch.
If you’re unsure how to interrupt certain generational patterns around obligation, guilt, and caregiving, this is a great watch.
If you’ve dealt with the decline of a parent, you may cry. But you’ll also feel held.
P.S. I love learning from this community as much as I love sharing with you. Are you a therapist with something to share with other therapists? Send your link, flyer, or story to info@workingphase.com.
